Juniper prune, wire & re-style

This great tree is one of my favourites, with fantastic movement in the trunk and branches & it's aged roots clinging onto and over a rock. 

2014

Winter '14

The tree required pruning quite hard, to let light into the inner portions of the tree, and to create some more definition to what has become one large pad of foliage. 

Feb '15

branch thinned and wired.

Starting at the bottom of the tree, i wired all primary and secondary branches.

At a training session with Harry Harrington, lower branches were placed, with some guy wires added to secure the more severe bends.

March '15 - wiring and initial styling complete

July '15 - fantastic growth over the summer. The wire is still on and not yet 'biting'.

It is now ready for a prune, which is done with scissors by removing only the most vigorous shoots.
