Acer P. Mikawa Yatsubusa - '8 leaf tufts'
This cultivar/variety (don't know if natural or man-crossed) is known as 'Tiles on the roof', which refers to the tightly formed tufts / pads of leaves with this beautiful cultivar. From Mikawa region in Shizuoka prefecture . 'Yatsubusa' means many buds.
Tight tufts of brilliant lime green emerge from bright red bud shields, giving the tree stunning green and red colour for over a month. In summer the leaves almost glow a vibrant lime green, and in autumn, the foliage displays shades of yellow, gold, oranges, pinks, purples and reds before dropping to reveal the true form of the tree, for the first time in months! .
